MAYAH JOY MWILA (born February 8, 2002), better known as Mayah The Model, is a Zambian model, actress, and television personality. Known for runway shows and front camera personality roles in the fashion industry.
Mayah was born on February 8, 2002, in Ndola, Copperbelt Province in Zambia raised in Kabushi Township, grew up in a Christian household and attended Her High School Level of Academics at Lubuto High School.
During Her stay in school, Miss Mwila always wished she was on the runway. “There was a beauty pageant at school, In 2018, I saw the girls rehearse and finally it was show time, …I admired them throughout and wished it was me, …I wanted to participate but I felt I wasn’t ready or felt like i was afraid of losing, …probably wasn’t ready” She explains.
Later, the following year in 2019, she auditioned for a local beauty runway show was picked as one of the models, and thats how her journey began. In 2021 She auditioned for Miss Copperbelt, won Miss Copperbelt first runner up 2021.
“When I came out Miss Copperbelt first runner up 2021 I couldn’t believe, …And honestly I didn’t think I’d win because the competition was tough. I felt less…only to find out that I made it in the top 6 list” She added.
…And finally won, getting crowned and everything just made me feel like I was meant for it, …in other terms modeling is fun you feel alive and happy when you’re on stage and it’s that feeling that keeps you going even after failing, …And my modeling journey started.” She reviews.
