After an eleven-year hiatus, ZNBC brought back the Born n Bred Awards for the 2024/2025 edition, celebrating Zambia’s top musical talents and visual creativity. The long-awaited return of the prestigious event featured fifteen competitive categories that recognized the best in music videos, artistry, and innovation across genres. Artists such as Chile One, Yo Maps, Drimz, Chef 187, and Sampa the Great were among the big names contending for top honors, while the event also spotlighted fresh talent and rising stars in the Zambian music scene.
Among the night’s standout winners, Chester’s “Eondogana Nakwe” won Best Traditional Video, while 76 Drums clinched Best Hip-Hop Video with “Big Machines.” Supa Kena took home Most Conscious Video for “True Story,” and Sampa the Great alongside Angélique Kidjo won Best Zed Representative Video for “Let Me Be Great.” Chile One Mr Zambia’s collaboration “So Chabe” earned Best Zed Video, and Yo Maps dominated by winning both Best Dancehall Video and Video of the Year for “Mr & Mrs.” Other notable winners included Mampi, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Drimz Mr MuzIQ, who won Radio 4 Song of the Year. Recognition awards were also given to Baska Baska for pioneering the Dunka sound and Sampa the Great for her international achievements.
