Camstar reveals his top 5 underrated Zambian hip-hop lyricists. Hip-hop fans know that when an artist pays homage to a classic act, it’s like a nod to the genre’s rich history – and suddenly, the music gets a whole lot more interesting.

Rap music stands out for its emphasis on lyrics, where clever wordplay and meaningful messages take center stage. A rapper’s voice is key to engaging their audience, but it’s the lyrics that have always defined the genre. This is especially true in Zambian Hip Hop, where rappers have built their reputations on lyrical skill and precision.
During an interview with BASE 101, Camstar was asked to name his top 5 Zambian rappers of all time. To solve the topic, the “Raise Your Glass” hitmaker chose to identify the top five most underappreciated Zambian hip-hop lyricists. “Can I share a list of lyricists who are slept on but truly exceptional?” he said.
Taking a stand on recognizing Zambia’s top lyrical talent, Camstar declared, “Let’s shake up the Zambian Hip Hop narrative. Here’s my list of the best lyricists – no particular order, just pure skill.”
“Alright, let’s get specific – Dyplomat, Naffy, Slick Bowy, Tale Sheezy, and Kronik the Diabolical. You feel me? These lyricists deserve more recognition.
