INTERVIEW – BEHIND THE BEATS: AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH ZAMBIAN MUSIC PRODUCER IQON.

The BASE 101 team sat down with Zambian music producer to get his take on the local music scene, and one question led to some exciting insights: Who are the hottest Zambian producers making waves right now? Here’s what Iqon had to say:

“Zambia has got a lot of talented producers, but some are really standing out from the rest,” said Iqon, his eyes lighting up with enthusiasm as he shared his insider’s perspective on the country’s thriving music scene. With a keen ear for innovation and a deep understanding of the industry, Iqon’s endorsement carries weight. So, who did he choose as the top producers to watch?.

“Alright, let’s get straight to it!” Iqon exclaimed, a hint of excitement in his voice. “In my book, these five producers are absolutely killing the game right now! We’re talking about the likes of T Sean, who’s been dominating the airwaves with his infectious beats. Magg 44, who’s bringing a fresh wave of energy to the scene. Solomon Plate, with his masterful production skills. Eazy the Producer, who’s been working with some of the biggest names in Zambian music. And last but not least, Eva More Sounds – an upcoming producer I’m nurturing who’s showing incredible promise and bringing a new vibe to the table! These guys are pushing the boundaries and taking Zambian music to new heights!

We further asked Iqon to spill the beans on the hottest Instruments in Zambian music right now, and he delivered! Here are his top 5 picks:

We had another special chance to ask Iqon about the artistes he’d love to collaborate with, and he gave us some exciting names! He’d be stoked to work with Slapdee, Tim, Yo Maps. He also mentioned Dark Knight, the underground kingpin, Zian a brand new female rapper and recording artiste from Lusaka, and the Heavy Boys a rap trio from the Copperbelt. It’s clear Iqon is drawn to some of Zambia’s most talented and influential artistes – can you imagine the fire tracks they’d create together?

We had a chat with Iqon about his biggest projects, and he mentioned working on Macky 2‘s hit track “For You” featuring Harmonize – that’s some major credentials right there! But the song that really put him on the map is Chanda Na Kay‘s “Mbo” – the track that brought him to the limelight! What a journey, from working on hits like “Mbo” to collaborating with big names like Macky 2 and Harmonize!

Later on this exclusive interview, the fire producer, Iqon revealed to us that He is gearing up to release his highly anticipated EP, “The Therapy”, this December. This upcoming project promises to be an exciting multi-genre endeavor, showcasing Iqon’s versatility as a producer. “The Therapy” is expected to feature a blend of genres, although specific details about the tracks and collaborations are yet to be revealed, fans can likely expect “The Therapy” to push boundaries and explore new sounds. With the release date set for December, anticipation is building, and it’s going to be exciting to see how this project unfolds.
