Legendary singer Akon — whose full name is Aliaune Badara Thiam — was arrested in suburban Atlanta, Georgia on an outstanding warrant issued by the Roswell, Georgia Police Department. He was taken into custody by the Chamblee Police Department after a security camera (Flock camera) alerted officers to a white Tesla Cybertruck registered to him at a business in Chamblee-Dunwoody Road. The warrant relates to a citation stemming from a September 10 incident when his vehicle broke down and police discovered he was driving with a suspended driver’s license and no valid insurance. He was booked and released a few hours later.
Akon’s arrest swiftly drew widespread media attention—not only because of his long-standing global music career and philanthropic ventures but also because the legal issue traces back to his failure to appear in court in January 2023 regarding the suspended license matter.
Despite this incident, Akon was reportedly calm and cooperative at the time of arrest, informing officers that he was aware of the warrant. As of now, no further charges beyond the outstanding warrant have been publicly announced, and the case remains under monitoring.
